Bush and Beach Eco-Tours

Guided Tours

Bush and Beach offers interactive, enjoyable, guided full- or half-day eco-tours in the greater Auckland region. Walk in the unique Waitakere rainforest with giant tree ferns and ancient kauri trees and on the wild west coast's black-sand beaches - incredibly just a thirty-minute drive from downtown Auckland. Or enjoy a half-hour scenic flight to untamed Great Barrier Island. Here you walk on pristine white-sand beaches, cross lush wetlands to natural thermal springs and visit the island's only farm where you find endangered brown teals (friendly little ducks). At a nearby stream, monster eels can be fed... if you dare. Or spend the day on the Coromandel Peninsula and enjoy the amazing landscape of mountains, forest-covered backbone, stunning coastline and sheltered bays and coves that make this a favourite holiday spot. This unique area is steeped in history associated with kauri logging and gold mining.

Ananda Tours

Waiheke Island

Guided Tours

Jenny is utterly charming and seemingly has the knack of being in many places at once, all fantastic and all of them somewhere on gorgeous Waiheke Island. Genuinely friendly (and genuinely local!) guides reveal as much or as little of the island, its people and its natural splendours as you wish them to. Homespun galleries, award-winning vineyards, lush gardens, world-class restaurants, white sand beaches and wild bush walks will be your stepping stones through a very colourful and informative day.

  • Prices: Prices start at $95 pp for a full day tour. Lunch and ferry tickets additional.

Auckland Highlights

  • Get sailing on the Waitemata Harbour in this the 'City of Sails'; even better if you can bag a space on one of the America's Cup yachts that operate here.
  • Learn about the history, geology and wildlife of New Zealand at the Auckland Museum. Do this on a Sunday morning and spend the afternoon (during summer months) picnicking at the Domain, watching a free jazz concert.
