Maori Tours Kaikoura

Kaikoura

Cultural tours

I heard so much praise and received so many recommendations for these guys it was no surprise, on meeting Heather and Maurice, to find they are truly lovely. This is an unpretentious experience that gives a rare insight into modern-day Maori living. Big on information, revelations and fun, but small on numbers, this cultural exchange is personal and completely individual.

Kate Tapley Horse Treks

Christchurch

Horse riding

Get to know your horse and let it get to know you during your pre-ride ‘partnering up’ session. For riders of all experience, the Natural Horsemanship (learning the horses' own language) principles by which Kate runs her horse-treks are both fascinating and rewarding to learn and apply. Though by no means fluent in horse, by the end of my ride, I did feel that we were connecting on a level more complex than simply ‘you, me, go… stop!’. At least, we definitely connected with a unanimous appreciation for the natural beauty of the Canterbury countryside - me with my camera, my new friend Patch with his mouth. Kate has just inaugrated overnight treks, 5 days to Hanmer Springs, or overnight over Port Hills to Governors Bay.

Kate Tapley Horse Treks
  • Prices: Half-day session (3 hrs) $100 and $40 per hour thereafter. All day (up to 6 hrs) $220. Groups of up to 6 riders. One-hour session is $60 pp. Prices double for exclusive rides with own personal guide. All equipment, tea, photos, lunch (for longer rides) provided.
