Pukaha Mount Bruce

Nature & wildlife

Ancient trees tower and native birds fly free in the unique environment of Pukaha Mount Bruce. The national wildlife centre offers an assortment of guided tours and will shower you with intriguing information on kaka, kiwi, kokako, kakariki, kereru (mainly birds beginning with ‘k’ it seems) and tuatara (a native reptile) among other rare and special species. If the monster and glass eel feeding at 1:30 has reminded you of your own rumbling belly, Café Takahe has made a sturdy name for its light, tasty and affordable meals.

  • Prices: $10 for adults, $2 for children. Under-5's are free. Guided Tours are available on weekends and public holidays from 10.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 3.30pm. Tours (day and night) are available at other times by arrangement.
